Cincinnati Public Library - Main Library - Behind the Scenes
Dylan and I were at Books by the Banks in Cincinnati this past weekend. The 17th annual festival was held at the newly renovated Cincinnati Public Library downtown. It was gorgeous! We met so many new people and even sold out of Season 1: Follow the Flush trades.
We also had the privilege of attending a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Main Library. I have never seen the stacks before, nor the "city block of fiction books"!
The Downtown Main Library consists of two buildings that span almost two city blocks and feature five publicly accessible floors, including...
redesigned spaces, expanded meeting rooms, and interactive areas for kids and teens;
the new Catherine C. and Thomas E. Huenefeld Story Center, designed to record and share history with future generations;
the Social Stairs, which connects all floors and highlight local music history;
and outdoor plazas with new public art and gathering spaces, including the return of the beloved book sculpture and Phronesis, a large-scale light sculpture unveiled during this year's Blink Festival.
If you'd like to catch us at another event, we've still got a couple before the end of the year! Please check out our HAPPENINGS page.
